Q ENERGY > About Us

HOW IT STARTED

Q Energy was founded by Dr. Li Yao and Vijay Natarajan, two visionary individuals driven by a shared mission to revolutionise the energy industry through the power of IoT and AI technologies. With a combined experience of nearly four years at Sparta Digital, an IoT solutions company in Manchester, Dr. Li Yao, as an investor and CTO, and Vijay Natarajan, as the marketing director, successfully built a thriving business. However, they felt compelled to create a specialised product within the energy sector, capitalising on their extensive knowledge and industry connections in the UK, EU, and Chinese markets.

At Q Energy, we recognise the pressing challenges faced by the energy industry, particularly in the UK. Presently, a mere 45% of the electricity bill in the UK can be attributed to actual energy costs, while the remainder consists of various charges associated with energy usage and government levies aimed at maintaining network stability. As the country endeavors to meet its decarbonisation targets, these challenges are expected to escalate, further compounded by the growth of renewables, electric vehicles, and electric heating. This multifaceted issue is not unique to the UK but is being actively addressed by countries worldwide, including the US, UK, Australia, and several nations in Western Europe.

Q Energy is dedicated to leveraging the potential of IoT and AI to tackle these complexities head-on. We aim to develop innovative solutions that optimise energy usage, facilitate the seamless integration of renewables, and empower consumers with greater control and transparency over their energy consumption. By harnessing the latest advancements in technology and drawing on our deep industry expertise, we are committed to driving the acceleration of renewable energy adoption and shaping a sustainable future for the energy sector.

Join us on our journey as we transform the energy industry, one innovation at a time. Together, we can build a greener, more efficient, and resilient energy ecosystem for generations to come.

OUR GOALS

We are passionate about intelligent energy systems and want to share our passion with the world. Starting here in Manchester we hope to reach as many businesses as possible to help them reap the value of energy storage with great savings on their energy bill and revenues!

WHAT IS Q ENERGY?

 Smart energy management

Q Energy provides a smart energy management system that can be used by building owners/energy managers to optimise their electricity consumption by utilising battery storage

Artificial intelligence

Our system uses unique Artificial intelligence based algorithms that work for individual businesses, adapting to their energy needs.

Q Energy platform

The services include deployment of the Q Energy platform, with battery storage and/or Solar PV projects

Commercial buildings account for up to 40 percent of the world’s energy consumption.

Q Energy solution maximises the value of converting a building into a smart building solution, reducing energy costs by as much as 30 to 50 percent. Q Energy is currently positioned to focus on Behind-the-meter (BTM) solutions for commercial & industrial customers.

Any non-domestic customer with load peak load of 70 KW (to have Half-hourly metering) and above could benefit from Q Energy, with or without battery storage. Q Energy are also working on the services for SME clients who are part of the smart metering rollout in the UK.

Q Energy is a UK based digital energy services provider, contributing to the future of energy.

City-wide energy marketplace platforms could emerge for sharing & utilising energy data to enable the city meet its decarbonisation targets.

Peer-2-Peer energy trading systems will be well developed coordinating potentially millions of future prosumers to improve the overall operation of the power system. This would easily demonstrate the benefits of implementing different levels of smart technologies in buildings through data analytics and enable consumers to interact with the energy markets.

New business models and appropriate remuneration across different stakeholders will be available for this local energy system. A city level approach would enable energy data sharing and utilise IoT technologies.
