What data do we collect and how?

  • Voluntarily have a smart meter, gateway, consumer access device, sensor or monitor on your premises which sends us information about your building and energy usage
  • Complete a customer survey or provide feedback on any of our message boards or via email

The data we collect depends on the services you receive from us. Simply submitting a contact request or subscribing to our newsletter means that we collect your name, email address, and sometimes your company name and phone number. If you apply for a job, we collect your contact details, your written application, CV and certificates/diplomas.

If you subscribe to our energy services, we will require data about your business’s energy use in order to calculate your bill and make recommendations that save you money. We will collect readings from smart meters automatically, with your consent. With your permission we may also collect data from gateways, consumer access devices, sensors, monitors, renewable generation and energy storage on your premises to help us better understand your building and energy demand.

How will we use your data?

Q Energy collects your personal data so that we can: process and manage your account, payment, contact request, enquiry, feedback or job application. We store and process data on secure, private servers in Europe.

We use data collected from devices, including smart meters, to build data-driven models of buildings and campuses. This allows us to make predictions automatically about energy use and other features of the premises e.g. temperature, so that we can issue smart controls (if you want these services). In order to offer you the best tariff, we may need to share your meter readings with an energy supplier, which you agree to by signing up to our service.


From time to time, we would like to send you information about products and services of ours that we think you might like. If you have agreed to receive marketing, you may always opt out at a later date. We will not share your data with third parties for marketing purposes unless you specifically consent to this.

What are your data protection rights?

We would like to make sure you are fully aware of all of your data protection rights. Every user is entitled to the following:

The right to access – You have the right to request copies of your personal data from us. We may charge you a small fee for this service.
The right to rectification – You have the right to request that we correct or complete any information you believe is inaccurate or incomplete.
The right to erasure – You have the right to request that we erase your personal data, under certain conditions.

The Energy Savers Club Social Competition: Terms and Conditions

Who Can Enter: Prize draw is open to UK, Channel Islands and Isle of Man residents aged 18 and over only, excluding employees at Q Energy, their immediate families, and anyone else professionally connected with the prize draw.

Opening/ Closing Date and Time: Prize Draw closes 5th July 12pm after running for 4 weeks (4th June 2021). 

Winner Selection and Contact: The draw will take place within one week (1) of the closing date and time for all entries.

Subject to eligibility and compliance with all applicable terms and conditions, the first entry drawn at random from all eligible entries will win the prize and be contacted to sort out the best suitable location for GoApe.

How to enter and Cost of Entry: The competition is free to enter however basic information and details is required. This will be done using a trackable link and a specific landing page for the competition. The details will not be shared and only used for internal use and future marketing communications.

Prize: Is a £500 GoApe voucher which can be redeemed on day of use. This will allow for you and 6-8 team additional team members to have a day in GoApe. The activities depend on the packages and number of team members requested by the winner. The voucher does not include overnight accommodation, transport there-and-back and depending on the package may-or-may-not include food and drinks.

If the competition receives less than 30 entries, we will not give out the prize due to lack of public engagement.
